About Humble Pie Bowl Turning

Peter Couture, 59, of Irasburg, Vermont  has a philosophy of being kind, loving, and caring for one another. He came up with the business name "Humble Pie Bowl Turning" to be humble. Since then, he has learned the art of mixing epoxy with wood, making unbelievable pieces, and doing Hollow forms and vases.

Vermont is a small state in northern New England, known for its opportunities for hard-working individuals. The author's grandfather learned about woodworking from his grandfather, who had to go to the mountains in the mountains of Jay/Belvadiere to make enough money to serve the summers. He passed this knowledge on to his son and later on, who enjoyed working with wood.

Meet the owner an artist Peter Couture

Peter worked with a gentleman who also loved woodworking and set up an old wood turning lathe in their small shop. He found some old knives and tools to turn bowls and started turning wood. After getting frustrated, he found two older guys in their area who turned and asked for classes. They declined to give them classes, but encouraged them to just do it.

Peter learned that turning wood at 5 or 600 RPM was dangerous, and they bought a face shield and a hard hat as a learning curve. It has been 3 ½ years since then, and they have sold over 300 bowls. One day, a lady, an artist, told the author that they were an artist, and they realized that taking something that was nothing and making something beautiful, unique, and one-of-a-kind is what makes one an artist.
